Representation Matters
Storytime is one of my toddler’s favorite times of the day, and since he was born I have always made it a point to ensure we read books with characters that looked like him. Over the years, I’ve found some really great books that featured black boys and girls that my son truly loves.
We have to remember that even children want to feel included. They want to see faces and lifestyles similar to theirs. We have to ensure their culture and their skin is represented so they can love and embrace the skin they’re in even more.
Below are some of my son’s favorite books to read. Comment below if you have other recommendations as well!!
